Academic Orchestra "B-Sharp"

Founded in September 2017, B-Sharp is the first student string orchestra in Riga aimed at uniting students from various universities and backgrounds to play in a single ensemble:

Future engineers, artists, doctors, musicians and economists working together in concert

B-Sharp aims at giving performances of music by international composers from various periods - ranging from classical up to contemporary. For our contemporary works, we have previously worked together with composers studying at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music.

We have two concert periods at the end of every academic semester (in November/December and May/June) where we perform at least one concert in the Aula of Rīga Stradiņš University together with a potential second location.

Besides giving our regular bi-annual concerts, we also aim to provide opportunities to the local community: Giving unforgettable musical experiences to those who usually are not able to go to a concert such as individuals in elderly homes, orphanages, hospitals as well as elementary schools.
